Meet Ashish Pushkaran

Ashish was born into a family who was persecuted for the cause of Christ in Kerala, South India. His Dad, Evangelist J. Pushkaran accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior as a teenager by reading a gospel pamphlet that he found on the floor of his house, one day when he returned home from school. The pamphlet was distributed by India Every Home Crusade, an indigenous missions agency, campaigning in his village, a majority of Hindu and Muslim population with no Christians! Born in Hindu orthodox family, with a Hindu temple on his own property, he never found peace, joy or true happiness in his family or in his gods. Jesus Christ was a new God for Him! His claims revolutionized his life as he started to learn more about Jesus! He started finding Joy, Hope and peace that he has been seeking. He accepted Jesus Christ as his God and Savior at the age of 20. As a result, he was persecuted and finally expelled from his family.

Ashish’s Mom, Sarasamma, was also born in an orthodox Hindu family. Unlike his Dad, she had little more exposure to the gospel as she grew up in a place where there is a large Catholic community. She started to pray to Jesus as one of the gods in every life changing decisions. Although, she always wondered looking at the portrait of Jesus Christ hanging on the cross, why He couldn’t save Himself, being a God. The answer came to her when she was invited by one of her friend to a Christian musical event where she heard the ‘Gospel of Jesus Christ’ and accepted Jesus Christ as her only God and Savior. Her family did not share the joy that she found in Jesus Christ. She was persecuted and finally expelled her from the family. That's when her Christian friends took her in and she was later introduced to Ashish’s Dad.

Before Ashish was born, his parents prayed that he would be mightily used by God in his generation. Ashish accepted Jesus as his God and Savior at age ten. As a young man Ashish dreamed of becoming a business man and serving the Lord. He became very active in the church youth activities as a leader and student leader of Inter Collegiate Prayer Fellowship. He also co-founded Solace Prayer Group, a prayer group and outreach ministry focused on college students in 1998.

Ashish went through some amazing experience with God during this time. He also came to know the will of God for his life, was not that Ashish be a business man but he should serve as a full time minister. He realized that God wants him, not his money. God brought him to the United States for his Theological Studies.

God brought Sue into Ashish’s life in 2002. He was so amazed to get to know her and the passion she has for the Lord's work. Sue, always wanting to be a missionary was excited to know about Ashish’s vision toward missions. They were married in 2003. Together they envision India; home of over a billion would someday get to know the claims of Jesus Christ! They dream about millions like J. Pushkaran, somewhere in the rural areas of India, longing to hear the gospel of Jesus Christ! They believe that this can be accomplished by partnering with God’s people everywhere to train indigenous leaders to take the gospel to their own people.

Ashish has a degree in Economics from Mahatma Gandhi University, India (1999) and Masters Degree in Biblical Studies from Temple Baptist Seminary, Cincinnati, OH (2002). He is an ordained Minister of the Gospel through Evangelical Church Alliance, Bradley, IL (2008). Ashish, Sue and their sons Chrisdas Ashish (2006) and Luke Vivek (2010) make their home in Maineville, suburb of Cincinnati,Ohio.
